The ImmunoMolecular Biology Laboratory has searched since its early stages innovative alternatives to treat HIV infection. It has investigated different immunomodulators effects, HIV entry and infection mechanism, and non-viral vehicles for use in HIV gene therapy. A priority research line is based in nanotechnology, searching for novel therapeutic and prophylactic tools against HIV.

We have developed a multidisciplinary group in order to carry out an ambitious project to design, synthesise and characterise novel water soluble nanoparticles as ODNs, siRNAs, plasmids and drugs transfection vehicles, as well as microbicides, antiretrovirals, adjuvants and prophylactic nanoparticles in a dendritic cells nanovaccine.
