Since 2004, the majority of human resources, infrastructure and material of the HIV BioBank has been funded by public research grants. The funding was initiated by the AIDS Research Network (G03/173), supported by the Instituto de Salud CarlosIII (ISCIII) (Ministerio de Sanidad y Consumo) (2003-2006).

Presently the HIB BioBank receives support from the Subdivision of CIBER and REDES, and the Specialized Network of Cooperative Research ISCIII RD06/0006/0035 of the Ministerio de Sanidad y Consumo and it is also supporting by European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). Since January of 2008, it receives funding from the Foundation for Research and Prevention of AIDS in Spain (FIPSE) for procedures involving the cohort of liver transplant patients co-infected with HIV and HCV in Spain (Study GESIDA 45-05). Moreover it depends on collaboration from the program “you choose you decide” from Caja Navarra

Since 2009 the  HIV-Bank participates in several european networks such as BBMRI, P3G   and the EUROGENE project
